Can I Join In?

Evolution

Evolution
Evolution is a ‘slow-cook’ process unfolding, gradually, over long periods of time. This is the way of nature. One cannot skip or miss a step without there being consequences.

Grounding Qigong

Grounding_Qigong
The Grounding Qigong shown here is a ‘Power Qigong,' which helps us to develop rooting whilst moving, walking, running or leaping. This is a critical tool and should not be overlooked by any serious students of the internal arts - or external for that matter!

How Long?

How Long?
It amazes me how in the modern era we have so-called martial arts ‘masters’ who give out imbecilic advice to their students on a daily basis and are never challenged by anyone about it!

Interview with Peter Jones

Combat & Healing #67
Peter Jones is the most senior Erle Montaigue accredited instructor in the United Kingdom and chief instructor and founder of Taiji Pa-kua Internal Fighting Arts - the oldest established school teaching the Erle Montaigue System in the UK and perhaps in the world - currently based in Ammanford, Wales.

On Magical Energies and All That Jazz

On Magical Energies and All That Jazz7
I am still shocked and amazed at the number of emails or enquires I get from people regarding supernatural energies, or demonstrations of said energies on YouTube or elsewhere!

On Reversing Forms

On Reversing Forms
The question of whether the Old Yang Taiji form should be practiced on the reverse side (mirror image) has been asked of me quite often lately. It has been a recurring theme for the past few months. Whilst originally, I had simply replied with a “No!”, upon further enquiry - my curiosity aroused, I realised that a more detailed explanation was needed in light of discovering why the question was being asked of me?

Shifu or Seafood

Shifu or Seafood
師傅 and 師⽗, are both Chinese terms referring to a ‘Master’.

Lift Hands - Vol 1

Lift Hands Vol1
Lift Hands is a new magazine for the internal arts. When one really thinks about Lift Hands, you’ll discover that it is not just an isolated posture from one of a myriad of martial arts available around the globe. No - far from it! Just as we lift our hands for combat, equally we also lift our hands in prayer, play, dance, to write, to paint, to greet, to wave goodbye, to hold and support a child or one of age, or to embrace or protect those we love. Lift Hands is innate within us all - regardless of the fact of whether we do martial arts or not - a movement inherited in the womb just like sight, taste, smell and hearing. It is an intrinsic, instinctive, unlearned and untaught part of the human condition. Everything we do in life involves lifting our hands... it is our intent which dictates what our hands do once they are lifted! Lift Hands will dare to be different from the usual crop of magazines on the subject. We are a work in progress...

Unlocking the Small San Sau

Unlocking the Small San Sau
I return to my notes once again while I continue to look at the Small San-sau (SSS) in detail.

The Footwork of Taijiquan

The Footwork of Taijiquan
The answer to the above question can be given in one simple setence: There is no footwork in Taijiquan or any other martial arts for that matter!

The Pace of Taijiquan

The Pace of Taijiquan
I have often been asked the question by most of my students regarding the pace at which one should perform their Taijiquan form? This is a question that tends to puzzle or perplex many.
